How do superheroes make money?

Superheroes among us: who are they?

Today April 28th is the International Day for superheroes. When we think of superheroes in movies we think of two different types:

  • Superheroes who are rich and use their money to become superheroes like Iron Man and Batman, coincidentally both are businessmen.
  • The kind that became superheroes by accident and have a stable job such as Superman who is a journalist or the Hulk who is both a doctor and a scientist

The question is do you believe there are superheroes among us? If yes how do they make money?

Real life superheroes:

Doctor Magdi Yacoub

Sir Magdi Yacoub is an Egyptian British professor of cardiothoracic surgery. Born in 1935 in Belbeis he graduated from medical school and decided to specialize in cardiothoracic surgery after his aunt passed away due to heart disease. He started at Kasr el Eini hospital then trained in London and also worked at several American universities such as the University of Chicago as a professor.

In 1987 he was appointed professor at the National Heart and Lung Institute, Imperial College London. He also received the highest award “the Order of Merit” in 2014 and was also knighted for his services by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

But even with all this success Sir Magdi Yacoub never forgot Egypt and decided to establish an institution to cure heart disease for free. He believes that when it comes to the heart it doesn’t matter if you’re rich or poor, everyone deserves the same chance at treatment.

The Magdi Yacoub foundation in Aswan helps all underage patients for free and soon a second branch will open in Cairo with an estimated cost of 290 million USD.

The Magdi Yacoub foundation is considered one of the first non profit charity organisations to treat patients for free in Egypt and Arab countries.

“Superheroes don’t have to be famous

Dr. Mohamed Mashali

“The doctor of the needy” was born in Dahr el temsah (literally: the back of the alligator) village in Beheira governorate in 1944. He graduated from Kasr el Eini University in Cairo and specialized in internal medicine, paediatrics, and fevers of unknown origins.

After graduation he worked in several clinics and medical units in small villages all over Egypt countryside. He opened his clinic in Tampa in 1975 with decision that no matter how expensive a doctor’s visit became he will not raise his prices.

He remained true to his word and offered his services for a nominal fee never thinking of making a profit for himself. He refused numerous proposals to establish clinics or hospitals in his name. As to his profit he made a fortune in people’s love and respect.

Mohammed Salah

No need for introductions here! Born in 1992 in Gharbeya governorate and is currently one of Liverpool stop stars, Salah is a superhero because of his dedication and his moral integrity, both of which turned him into a role model for future generations.

Even though he resides abroad most of the year he maintained his charity work in Egypt and specifically in his hometown. For example, he stablished an orphanage that caters to both orphans and widows in Nagreeg village at a cost of 10 million Egyptian pounds.

He also keeps in contact with people in his hometown and tries to help in any way possible.

Superheroes don’t have to be famous!

You can be a superhero to your friends and family with just your dedication. Just because you are not famous doesn’t mean you can’t be someone hero so don’t stop what you’re doing. The important thing isn’t how many fans you have but how many people you help.
