The presiding judge reduced Amber Heard’s punitive damages from $5 million to $350,000 in accordance with Virginia State Law’s cap on punitive damages, which means Heard should pay Depp $10,350,000 but according to her lawyer Amber will not be able to pay as her net worth is just $1.5-2.5 million.
A more than likely scenario would be for Heard to file for bankruptcy through which her $10 million debt will be waived but she will still have to pay the $350,000 in punitive damages.
Amber’s final resort would be if Depp himself chose not to execute the judgment, and waive his monetary rights.
One of Depp’s lawyers indicated that Johnny may waive the monetary damages and settle for being vindicated in front of the whole world.
